'Motivated Elements Trying To Defame': Delhi Police On Allegations Of Clamping Down Covid Resource Information
Taking strong exception to the "unverified and unsubstantiated" allegations, the city police pleaded people and the media not to amplify such misinformation and warned of legal action.
In the pandemic time when frontline workers are trying their best to help the public to get over the crisis, the Delhi Police came out strongly against those trying to defame the force.
The Delhi Police in an official statement on the micro-blogging site said, “motivated elements" are trying to defame the force by spreading misinformation on social media on the Covid-19 crisis.
The Delhi Police tweeted the statement after posts on social media went on to allege the police in the national capital reeling under the impact of CovId-19, from stopping people organizing help for Covid patients.
"At a time when Delhi Police is going beyond its call of duty to help people during this pandemic, it is unfortunate that such allegations are being levelled by motivated elements on social media and the mainstream media seems to be giving credence to such propaganda by carrying news reports on them," Delhi Police said in the statement.
Vested groups spreading misinformation on social media alleging Delhi Police has prevented those engaged in amplifying resource information publicly.
Taking strong exception to the "unverified and unsubstantiated" allegations, the city police asked people and the media not to amplify such misinformation and warned of legal action.
The police also mentioned all the initiatives undertaken by its personnel during the pandemic in which it helped people with hospital admissions and oxygen cylinders.
"Not just that, our men are even performing last rites of people after their families refuse to accept the bodies," the statement read. "We are going hand with Good Samaritans and members of the public and supporting them by all means."
