Delhi: Over Dozen Animals Charred To Death After Fire Breaks Out At Rohini's Cow Shelter

As per the report, the fire personnel took nearly four hours to bring the flames under control.

New Delhi: In yet another fire incident, more than a dozen cows were burnt alive as fire broke out in a cow shelter on the outskirts of Delhi on Saturday, officials said. According to a report by news agency IANS, the fire broke out in Rohini’s Savada area around 1.15pm and 10 fire engines were sent to douse the flames.

As per the report, the fire personnel took nearly four hours to bring the flames under control. In the incident, more than a dozen cows were burnt alive and the shelter home has been gutted.

"Charred bodies of cows are being taken out of cow shelter. The reason behind the fire is yet to be ascertained," IANS quoted a fire official as saying.

An FIR has been registered with the local police station and an investigation in the matter has been initiated, officials said.

The fire fighters were still busy in the cooling operation during the filing of the report.

In a similar incident last month, as many as thirty-eight cows were charred to death in a village in Indirapuram in Ghaziabad near Delhi, after a fire broke out at a dumpyard and engulfed the cow shelter nearby.

As per reports, there were around 150 cows at the facility at the time of the incident.

In the fire incident in Ghaziabad, nearly 100 shanties were also gutted. However, there was no fire related injury. According to the fire officials, the incident took place when 12 LPG cylinders exploded in the nearby shanties. The residents usually used 5kg LPG cylinders that are procured locally.
