NEW DELHI: Life is back to normal in the market of the Hauz Qazi area of Old Delhi which had witnessed communal tension last week. Clashes had broken out between two groups belonging to different communities over the parking of a scooter, following which the temple was vandalised. The VHP organised a Shobha Yatra on Tuesday in Hauz Qazi, as a mark of the renovation of the temple, where the idols of Hindus were installed as per the rituals. Giving a message of peace and brotherhood, members of the Muslim community welcomed those who participated in the yatra. The members of the Aman Committee (Peace Commitee) also served food to them. Delhi: Muslims Serve Food To Shobha Yatra Participants In Hauz Qazi Senior BJP leader Vijay Goel also joined the Shobha Yatra. Speaking to ANI, he said: "A few days back a small scuffle over parking led to heightened tensions in the area. Some people provoked it including AAP leader Imran Hussain." "We requested the police to take strict action against the guilty. Arrests have been made in this regard but no action has been taken against Imran Hussain," he said. "Today's Shobha Yatra was taken out to convey that nobody has the right to cause any kind of damage to any place of worship," he added. So far, the police have arrested seven men and apprehended eight juveniles in connection with the vandalism of the temple. More arrests are likely as search is underway for other suspects. The Durga Mandir street is packed with shops of caterers who claim that their business has suffered a setback after the tension.
