9 Killed, Several Injured As Fire Breaks Out At Cloth Godown In Delhi's Kerari Area
The incident happened after a fire broke out in a cloth godown in Kirari area at around 12:30 am, today.
At least nine people were killed and 10 injured after a fire broke down in a cloth godown in north Delhi’s Kirari area. The injured were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
According to initial reports, the incident took place at around 12:30 am and the fire has been doused. The godown was situated on the ground floor of a three-storey building.
Earlier this month, as many as 43 people lost their lives in a major fire tragedy at Anaj Mandi factory in Delhi.
On Sunday evening, a fire broke out at a residential building in Mumbai's Vile Parle West area where several people were injured. Several fire tenders rushed to spot to conduct firefighting operations.
According to reports, blaze was confined to the 7th and 8th floor of the 13-storey Labh Shrivalli building. The chief fire officer had said that four people were rescued from the spot.
"Five persons, including a woman, were rescued during the operation. Nobody was trapped on the terrace of the building. The woman was rescued from the eighth floor of the B wing," Chief Fire Officer P Rahangdale told news agency PTI at 10 pm.
Officials told PTI that it was level 3 fire. The fire was reported around 7:10 pm, and fire engines arrived scene within minutes. The fire raged for almost two hours before it was doused completely around 9:30 pm, a senior official said.
According to officials, the fire started from an eighth-floor flat on one of the two wings where some interior decoration work was going on.
