Delhi Court To Hear Today Satyendar Jain’s Plea For Contempt Action Against ED Over Leaked Tihar Videos

The Indian Association of Physiotherapists earlier denied that Satyendar Jain received any physiotherapy, and they have also asked for an apology for "degrading physiotherapy."

New Delhi: A Delhi court will hear on Monday a plea of jailed AAP minister Satyendar Jain seeking contempt proceedings against the Enforcement Directorate (ED) for allegedly leaking CCTV footage to the media.

Special Judge Vikas Dhull on Saturday directed the agency to file its response on Jain's plea which accused the ED of leaking the CCTV footage. The leaked video purportedly showed the politician getting a massage inside the Tihar jail "despite an undertaking given in the court".

The Indian Association of Physiotherapists has earlier denied that Satyendar Jain received any physiotherapy, and they have also asked for an apology for "degrading physiotherapy," news agency ANI had reported.

This comes after Manish Sisodia, the deputy chief minister, stated on Saturday that the viral CCTV video of Jain receiving a full-body massage was "treatment for injury."

Sisodia claimed that the "physiotherapy" was necessary because of a spinal injury and that the BJP was to blame for releasing the CCTV footage.

The Aam Aadmi Party received massive criticism after the leaked video showed jailed minister Satyendar Jain receiving massage and meeting visitors in his prison cell. The opposition BJP and Congress demanded his sacking and questioning the "silence" of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

Earlier, the ED had accused Jain of getting special treatment inside the jail. The court had ordered the ED and Jain's legal team not to leak any content of affidavits and video in this regard and had taken their undertakings in the matter, reported PTI.

The court had, however, refused to put any restriction on or pass any direction to the media. It had on November 17 denied bail to Jain and two others in the case.

The ED had arrested Jain in a money laundering case based on a CBI FIR lodged against him in 2017 under the Prevention of Corruption Act.  Jain is accused of having laundered money through four companies allegedly linked to him.
