New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has written a letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah demanding to regularise 4,500 employees of the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC). CM Kejriwal in his letter has also requested the home minister to give quick approval.

In a letter to the Home Minister, CM Kejriwal wrote: "I would like to draw your attention to the issue of approval of recruitment rules for Group 'C' posts in NDMC for granting permanent staff status to regular muster roll (RMR) employees of The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC). The NDMC has around 4,500 employees who are currently working as RMR and have been waiting for two years to become permanent employees of NDMC."

According to an official statement, the proposal to regularise NDMC employees is pending with the Union Home Ministry. These employees had recently urged CM Kejriwal to intervene in the matter.

Kejriwal government had sent a proposal to the Union Home Ministry on September 25, 2020, for approval of the draft of recruitment rules for Group 'C' posts in the NDMC.

On this issue, NDMC vice-president and BJP leader Satish Upadhyay said that the Delhi Chief Minister is unnecessarily bringing a political angle into the issue and the council has already started the process of regularising the workers.
