COVID-19: Govt Evacuates Over 1.6 Lakh Stranded J&K Residents; Over 1.1 Lakh Via Lakhanpur, 50K Through Special Trains
Jammu and Kashmir Government has brought back about 1,60,945 residents, stranded in other parts of the country due to Coronavirus lockdown.
Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has evacuated about 1,60,945 JK residents, stranded in other parts of the country due to COVID lockdown, via Lakhanpur and through special trains and buses till date, amid strict observance of all necessary guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures. As per the official data received in this regard, the Jammu and Kashmir administration has received 63 special trains at Jammu and Udhampur railway stations from different states and UTs, so far, with about 50,873 passengers while about 1,10,072 persons from other states and UTs including 328 from abroad have been evacuated by the government through Lakhanpur till date.
As per the detailed breakup of the figures, about 1272 stranded passengers have entered through Lakhanpur from June 23 to June 24 mornings while 802 passengers have reached today in the 42nd Delhi COVID special train at Jammu.
So far, 42 trains have reached Jammu with a total of 35,177 stranded passengers belonging to different districts while 15,696 passengers have reached Udhampur in 21 special trains, so far.
Meanwhile, on Tuesday, 24 army soldiers, eight police personnel and four pregnant women were among 148 fresh cases of Covid-19 infection reported in Jammu and Kashmir.
So far 3642 people have died due to Coronavirus. These include - 873 from Jammu division and 2769 from Kashmir while 87 people from Valley and 10 from Jammu.
