Thane has added 357 new cases of coronavirus, raising the infection count in the Maharashtra district to 5,40,677, an official said on Monday.
These new cases were reported on Sunday, he said.

After several northern states, including Uttarakhand, announced restriction on ‘Kanwar Yatra, the Delhi administration too on Sunday prohibited any movement of Kanwariyas in the national capital to contain the spread of coronavirus.
The Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) in a notification on Sunday stated that Kanwar Yatra-2021 should not be permitted in order to prevent the spread of the Covid-19 virus in the National Capital Territory (NCT) of Delhi.
"The upcoming Kanwar Yatra will commence from 25.07.2021 and in spite of being banned/suspended by the Uttarakhand government, there is an apprehension of gatherings/congregations/processions during Kanwar Yatra-2021," read an order issued by Delhi Chief Secretary Vijay Dev.
Delhi's Covid management authority has also directed the government authorities including Delhi Police and district administrations to ensure strict compliance of the directions.
"District Magistrates (DMs) in Delhi, as well as their respective district deputy commissioners of police to ensure strict compliance of the order, and to further adequately sensitise the field functionaries about these instructions for strict compliance, in letter and spirit," the notification read.
More than 1.1 million cases of Covid-19 have been confirmed in Bangladesh as of Sunday.
The country's Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) reported 11,578 new Covid-19 cases and 225 more deaths on Sunday, making the tally at 11,03,989 and death toll at 17,894, the Xinhua news agency reported.
The official data showed that 39,806 samples were tested in the last 24 hours as of 8:00 a.m. local time Sunday across Bangladesh.
The total number of recovered patients in the country stood at 932,008 including 8,845 new recoveries Sunday, said the DGHS.
According to the official data, the Covid-19 fatality rate in Bangladesh is now 1.62 per cent and the current recovery rate is 84.42 per cent.
Bangladesh recorded the highest daily new cases of 13,768 on July 12 and the highest number of deaths of 230 on July 11.
The Uttar Pradesh government has made it mandatory for passengers coming in from states having a high caseload, to carry their RT-PCR negative report.
The report should not be more than four days old. People who have been administered both the doses of vaccine will be exempted from the condition.
According to the government spokesman, the rule will not only be applicable to people coming by air, rail and road but also to those using private vehicles.
The development comes a day after the UP government announced suspension of the proposed ‘Kanwar Yatra' following a call by Kanwar association in the wake of pandemic. The chief minister said the community should take decisions on issues pertaining to faith. "The feeling of Kanwar association should be respected," he added.
Meanwhile UP recorded 56 new cases and 69 recoveries in last 24 hours.
The decision to make RTPCR report mandatory comes amid high positivity rate in some cities of Maharashtra and Kerala.
According to reports, Kolhapur, Satara, Sangli, Sindhudurg, Ratnagiri, Buldhana, Pune (rural), Palghar and Raigadh have recorded test positivity rate higher than 4.5 per cent. Likewise, the positivity rate in Kerala has been hovering around 10 per cent.
The chief minister has directed officials to ensure contact tracing and testing of people coming from states with high positivity rate. He said these people should be subjected to antigen test and thermal scanning on arrival in UP.

Coronavirus HIGHLIGHTS, Monday, July 19: With the pandemic's second wave plateauing, active Covid cases in Karnataka dipped below 30,000, as only 1,708 new cases in a day, said the state health bulletin on Sunday.
"With 1,708 cases registered on Saturday, the state's Covid tally increased to 28,83,947, including 29,291 active cases, while 28,18,476 recovered till date, with 2,463 patients discharged during the day," said the bulletin.
As epicenter of the pandemic in the state, Bengaluru, however, reported only 386 fresh cases on Saturday, taking its Covid tally to 12,23,189, including 11,751 active cases while recoveries rose to 11,94,641, with 793 discharged in the last 24 hours.
The infection claimed 36 lives, including 10 in Bengaluru, taking the state's death toll to 36,157 and the city's toll to 15,796 since the pandemic broke out in mid-March year ago.
Among districts, 241 fresh cases were reported in Dakshina Kannada and 210 in Mysuru.
The Uttar Pradesh government on Sunday said a negative RT-PCR report is mandatory for people coming to UP from states where the positivity rate is more than three per cent.
The report should not be older than four days, it said in a statement issued here.
"People coming from such states to UP should begin their journey after getting the Covid test done. Those who have taken both the vaccine doses can be exempted," the statement said.
Instructions have been issued that intense contact tracing and testing be initiated on people coming to the state, the statement said, adding that upon arrival to the state, antigen test and thermal scanning of people should also be done.
