Congress Working Committee Meets In Delhi. Lakhimpur Incident, Party President, Assembly Polls Top Agenda

The Congress Working Committee meeting is scheduled to discuss several important issues including Lakhimpur Kheri, organisational polls, assembly elections, farmers protest and others.

New Delhi: The Congress Working Committee is scheduled to meet today under the chairmanship of Congress President Sonia Gandhi. The working committee meeting is scheduled to discuss all other important issues including Lakhimpur Kheri, but all eyes will be on what is decided to elect a new and permanent president in the Congress, as the G-23 leaders had once again started surrounding the Congress leadership on the issue recently.

While Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra is trying to surround the BJP government over the incident in Lakhimpur Kheri in Uttar Pradesh, on the other hand the internal discord in the party is not ready to calm down.

Captain Amarinder Singh was suddenly removed as chief minister, the rebel Congress faction G-23 has once again put the Gandhi family in the dock after Navjot Singh Sidhu was given the command of Punjab Congress president and his sudden resignation was announced.

Senior party leader Kapil Sibal had even said that he does not even know who the party leader is now. Ghulam Nabi Azad had even written to Sonia Gandhi demanding an immediate working committee meeting. 

The Congress party says that the decision in the working committee on the presidential and organisation elections will be in accordance with the procedure laid down in the party and those who think that who think the party does not have a President, Congress President is Sonia Gandhi.
