'Targetting CRPF, Instead Of Naxalites': Assam CM Slams Baghel Over Killing Of C'garh BJP Leader

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Sunday extended his condolences to the family members of the BJP politician who was assassinated.

A day after Bharatiya Janata Party leader was killed in Narayanpur, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday lashed out at Chhattisgarh Bhupesh Baghel for not taking a strong stance against Naxalites, news agency ANI reported. Speaking with media, CM Sarma stated: "When Congress leaders died during BJP's time, Bhupesh Baghel should have taken revenge from Naxalites. When his own leaders are killed, he is targetting CRPF, instead of Naxalites. What is the meaning of CRPF? The sons of the poor are in CRPF. The sons of people from the poorest section are in CRPF. Why is he speaking against the CRPF."

Earlier, during a news conference today, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel extended his condolences to the family members of the BJP politician who was assassinated. He stated: "I express my condolence to the family members. Due to the pressure from our force the Naxals have moved back...Some small incidents have been happening but the situation has improved."

The vice president of the BJP's Narayanpur district unit, Ratan Dubey, was killed by stabbing with a sharp object at approximately 5:30 p.m. in the Kaushalnagar village market on Saturday, which is under the jurisdiction of the Jharaghati police station. He was actively campaigning for the Assembly elections, which are set for November 7 and 17, according to Additional Superintendent of Police Hemsagar Sidar.

As Dubey was speaking to a group of individuals, two people emerged from the crowd and struck him in the back of the head, according to an eyewitness.

"Dubey ran towards his car and tried to get inside but a few more persons surrounded him and attacked him with sharp edged weapons leading to his death on the spot. The incident led to chaos. BJP workers later rushed to the police station located around 5 kilometres away from the site," he was quoted by PTI in its report.
