Centre Rejects Delhi Government's Plan Of Home Delivery Of Ration, Claims AAP

The Aam Aadmi Party has claimed that the Central government has once again refused permission for the home delivery of ration.

New Delhi: The Centre has once again refused to allow the Delhi government to implement the scheme or home delivery of ration on the basis of complaints from ration shopkeepers. The ruling Aam Aadmi Party government made this claim on Saturday.

AAP chief spokesperson Saurabh Bhardwaj alleged that it was a clear case of collusion between the BJP and ration mafia. The AAP government had sent the file of the scheme to Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal for the third time on Tuesday for his approval.

Government sources said the Centre has sent a letter to the Food and Supplies Department of the Delhi government asking it not to "implement" the scheme. The Delhi High Court had recently approved the government's plan, after which Arvind Kejriwal sent the proposal to LG. However, he did not approve of the scheme.

According to a report, 72 lakh people in Delhi are eligible for subsidized rations, out of which 17 lakh are ration cardholders. The Delhi government and the Lieutenant Governor have been in disagreement over the door-to-door ration delivery scheme for a long time.

Delhi's Kejriwal government had made all preparations to launch the Mukhyamantri Ghar Ghar Yojana from March 25, 2021, but the central government objected to the scheme. The Kejriwal government later withdrew the Chief Minister's word from the scheme but could not get approval from the Centre and the LG. On September 27, the High Court allowed the Delhi government to implement the Doorstep Ration Delivery Scheme.
