Industrialist Gautam Adani Gets 'Z' Category VIP Security Cover
Adani Gets Z Security: The security cover was accorded to Gautam Adani, 60, on the basis of a threat perception report prepared by central security agencies.
The Centre has accorded industrialist and Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani 'Z' category VIP security cover, PTI reported. The security cover of CRPF commandos was accorded to Adani, who has a net worth of about $130.2 billion, on the basis of a threat perception report prepared by central security agencies.
The 'Z' security cover will be on a "payment basis" and is expected to cost about Rs 15-20 lakh per month, PTI quoted officials as saying.
According to sources in the Home Ministry, on the basis of the threat perception report received from the Intelligence Bureau, Adani has been provided high-level security by the government.
There are largely six types of security cover: X, Y, Y plus, Z, Z plus, and SPG (Special Protection Group). The SPG is meant only for the Prime Minister and his immediate family. Other protection categories can be provided to anyone about whom the Centre or state governments have inputs about a threat.
The 'Z' category protective cover consists of at least 4 to 5 National Security Guard commandos and police personnel. It is India's third highest degree of security. More than 30 armed personnel will be deployed for Adani's security.
RIL Chairman Mukesh Ambani was given a 'Z+' category cover of CRPF commandos by the Union government in 2013, followed by a lower category cover to his wife Neeta Ambani some years later.
Meanwhile, Forbes Media announced on Wednesday that Gautam Adani would join Singapore Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Lawrence Wong to address the Forbes Global CEO Conference in Singapore on September 26-27. Adani will be making a keynote speech on the second day of the conference.
Some 400 leading CEOs, entrepreneurs and investors are expected to convene at the 20th Forbes Global CEO Conference to share insights, spotlight opportunities and stake out the way forward.
