Mumbai (Maharashtra) : The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Monday clarified that it has not given a clean chit in some of the cases allegedly involving Maharstra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar. "None of the cases that were closed today are related to Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister, Ajit Pawar," said Maharashtra Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) DG, Parambir Singh to Anews agency ANI.

"We are investigating around 3000 tenders in irrigation related complaints. These are routine inquiries which are closed and all ongoing investigations are continuing as they were earlier," Singh added.

Maharashtra Anti Corruption Bureau Sources of ANI also said the cases that were closed today were conditional, cases could reopen if more information comes to light or courts order further inquiry.

Some media reports had suggested this afternoon that the ACB is closing the investigations into at least nine cases including the infamous "irrigation scam in which Ajit Pawar was allegedly involved.

These nine cases pertain to big and small irrigation projects in Washim, Yavatmal, Amravati and Buldhana of the Vidarbha region, according to a notification issued by the ACB, Mumbai. The cases, among others, collectively known as the Rs 70,000 crore 'irrigation scam' were allegedly perpetrated around 10 years ago and had created a massive political furore in the past, with the Bharatiya Janata Party, Shiv Sena, Aam Aadmi Party and others raising it regularly, reported IANS.

The news of Ajit Pawar allegedly being given clean chit was seized by Shiv Sena leader Priyanka Chaturvedi who on Twitter said: "From never, never, never to forever, forever, forever. Temporary CM signing his first order to grant clean chit for his temporary deputy?

She also shared a few images one of which was of Maharashtra CM and BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis who had vowed five years ago of "never" allying with NCP.
