BSF Foils Infiltration Bid In Jammu, Pakistani Drone Forced To Return

A thorough search is being conducted in the area after BSF foiled drone movement at the International Border.

The Border Security Force (BSF) detected and foiled a Pakistani drone movement attempts at the International Border (IB) in the Ramgarh sector of Jammu on Saturday, said officials as reported by news agency IANS.

“A blinking light was observed at around 12.15 a.m on the IB in the general area of Ramgarh. Alert troops fired towards the blinking light due to which it was forced to return,” the BSF said, as quoted by IANS.

As per the officials, a thorough search is being conducted in the area. There have been multiple instances of drones and their use by the Pakistani side to drop weapons near the international border in Jammu to help terrorists operating in Jammu and Kashmir.

The BSF has recovered several weapon caches in the past and foiled terror activities across the border.

In a similar incident in the past, the BSF foiled a drone intrusion attempt from Pakistan on September 12, 2022, after a drone was spotted near International Border in Gurdaspur. The attempt of intrusion was foiled after jawans fired several rounds of bullets and forced it to retract its position by moving back to the Pakistani side.

“Today around 5 am a Pakistani drone was spotted near the International Border in the area of BSF's Rosa Post BOP 89 Bn in Gurdaspur,” reported news agency ANI.

Earlier in July last year, a similar Pakistani drone infiltration bid was foiled by the BSF after it was spotted near the International Border in the Kanachak sector of Jammu and Kashmir, according to a PTI report.

Such drone sightings near the border area of Punjab and J&K have witnessed a rise in the last few months. Pakistani drones are mostly used in dropping drugs and weapons inside Indian territory in a bid to support terrorism.

However, the security forces have succeeded in safeguarding the border areas with their alertness and foiling any such plans of infiltration by terrorists.

LeT has set up terror modules for collecting and transporting weapons by drones to terrorists in border areas of Jammu, Samba, Kathua, and Rajouri districts, reprted PTI.
