PM Modi To Address On Thursday His First Rally In Srinagar Since Abrogation Of Art 370
In his first visit to Kashmir after abrogation of Article 370, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will unveil multiple development projects worth more than Rs 6,400 crore and address a public meeting in Srinagar on Thursday.
Stringent security arrangements have been put in place to ensure an incident-free visit as Bakshi Stadium, the venue of the prime minister's rally, has been draped in tricolour, officials said.
Modi will attend the 'Viksit Bharat Viksit Jammu Kashmir' programme at the stadium in Srinagar and inaugurate initiatives worth nearly Rs 5,000 crore for boosting the agri-economy in the Union Territory, according to an official statement.
The BJP-led Centre abrogated the provisions of Article 370 on August 5, 2019 and bifurcated the erstwhile state into the Union territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.
Congress To Decide On Party Candidates At CEC Meet On March 7
The top leadership of the Congress will meet in the national capital on Thursday to finalise the party's candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections amid speculation that Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra may contest from Uttar Pradesh.
"The first meeting of the Congress' Central Election Committee (CEC) that considers and decides on candidates for Lok Sabha polls is being held at 6 pm on March 7th," AICC general secretary, communications, Jairam Ramesh said in a post on X.
Top leaders including president Mallikarjun Kharge and former chiefs Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi will be present at the meeting, besides other senior leaders who are part of the panel.
The Congress has not declared any candidate so far. Last week, the BJP came out with its first list of 195 candidates for the Lok Sabha elections.
Farmers' Group To Protest Outside Noida Police Commissioner's Office On Thursday
A group of farmers has called for holding a demonstration outside the police commissioner's office in Noida on Thursday over the non-withdrawal of police cases against them during a protest against local authorities.
The Bharatiya Kisan Parishad, which led a major protest between December 2023 and February 2024 against the Noida Authority, the Greater Noida Authority and the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC), Dadri, has asked its supporters to gather outside the police commissioner's office in Sector 108 on Thursday.
"What does the police want to prove by filing a charge sheet against the protesting farmers in relation to the FIRs lodged between 2021 and 2024 over protests against the authorities and the NTPC," the Bharatiya Kisan Parishad (BKP) asked.
BKP president Sukhbir Yadav 'Khalifa' said the farmers are fighting for their rights and an agreement was reached recently to end the protest on an assurance that the cases against the farmers would be withdrawn.

The Cabinet Committee on Security on Thursday approved the acquisition of 34 new Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) Dhruv helicopters, with 25 allocated to the Indian Army and 9 to the Indian Coast Guard. These helicopters will be manufactured domestically by the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), a public sector firm, as per Defence officials, reported ANI.
