PM To Inaugurate Bundelkhand Expressway In UP Today
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Uttar Pradesh on Saturday and inaugurate the Bundelkhand Expressway -- a 296-km four-lane expressway that has been constructed at a cost of around Rs 14,850 crore, his office said. The work on the expressway has been completed within 28 months and it will now be inaugurated by the prime minister, a statement from the Prime Minister's Office said.
Prime Minister Modi will visit Uttar Pradesh on July 16, 2022 and inaugurate Bundelkhand Expressway at Kaitheri village in Orai tehsil of Jalaun district at around 11:30 AM, it said. The government has been committed to enhancing connectivity across the country, a key feature of which has been the work towards improvement in road infrastructure, the PMO said.
Lankan Parliament To Meet Today, New Prez To Be Elected Soon
Sri Lanka's Parliament will meet on Saturday after President Gotabaya Rajapaksa officially resigned, Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena has announced. President Rajapaksa officially resigned on Friday, two days after the embattled leader fled the country in the face of massive protests against his government for mishandling the economy that bankrupted the country.
The 73-year-old leader Thursday emailed his resignation letter to the Speaker soon after he was allowed by Singapore to enter the city-state on a "private visit". The Parliament will meet on Saturday and the new President will be elected within seven days in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution, the Daily Mirror Lanka quoted Speaker Abeywardena as saying.
Lights Rains In Delhi Likely On Saturday
It was a warm and humid day in Delhi on Friday with the maximum temperature settling at 38.5 degrees Celsius, three notches above normal, the India Meteorological Department said. The capital is likely to witness a generally cloudy sky with light rain and thundershowers at a few places on Saturday, according to the IMD.
The maximum and minimum temperature is likely to settle at 37 and 27 degrees Celsius, respectively, the IMD said in its forecast "It would be generally cloudy sky with light rain or thundershowers at a few places in the national capital," an IMD official said.
CJI Ramana To Inaugurate Digital Museum In Rajasthan Assembly Today
Chief Justice of India N V Ramana will inaugurate a digital museum in Rajasthan Legislative Assembly on Saturday. On this occasion, a seminar on '75 years of parliamentary democracy' will also be held by the Rajasthan branch of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association. "The purpose of the museum is to display the glorious political history of Rajasthan and also to make people aware of the political proceedings and arrangements," Assembly Speaker C P Joshi said.
A detailed description of the rights and roles of the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, the Leader of the House and the Leader of the Opposition will also be displayed in this museum, along with the process of how bills are passed and become law.
