EAM S Jaishankar To Meet Russian Counterpart
In a first high-level visit, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov landed in New Delhi on Thursday evening to hold talks with Indian counterpart S. Jaishankar over crude oil offer, rupee-ruble payment and arms deals.
Lavrov's visit comes amid strong pressure from the West and its allies on India to take a stronger stand against Russia, which has been at war with Ukraine for over a month now.
According to reports, Lavrov would be meeting Jaishankar on Friday afternoon and by 5.50 p.m. he would be flying for Moscow. Some reports also suggest that the Russian minister would also meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday. There has been no official confirmation from the government about the same.
Imran Khan's Govt In Pakistan On The Brink Of Collapse
A defiant Imran Khan on Thursday indicated that he will not resign from the post of Pakistan's prime minister despite losing the majority in the National Assembly and insisted that he will face the vote of no-confidence which would take place on Sunday.
Khan needs 172 votes in the lower house of 342 to foil the Opposition's bid to topple him. However, the Opposition claims it has the support of 175 lawmakers and the prime minister should immediately resign.
Delhi, Maharashtra, Bengal To Lift Covid Curbs From Today
With a significant decline in daily Covid-19 infections and total active caseload across the country, several states - including Maharashtra, Delhi and West Bengal - will remove all restrictions from April 1, two years after the Coronavirus pandemic curbs were clamped.
While Maharashtra has decided to lift all Covid-19 restrictions, including no restrictions on public movement, Delhi stated that there will be no fine for not wearing face masks in public places.
Even Mamata Banerjee-led West Bengal government announced that all Covid-induced restrictions in the state would stand withdrawn from midnight.
