BJP Vice President's major statement, says ‘Will do nationwide implementation of NRC after coming to power in 2019'

While addressing a media gathering in Rajasthan, Mathur said “Congress President is not true to his family as the NRC was initiated by then PM Indira Gandhi, but the party could not gather courage to implement it in last 10 years”.

New Delhi: Amid massive debates over the National Register of Citizens issue, Where the centre is adamant about weeding out the infiltrators, the opposition claims that it is all being done for ‘votes’; Bharatiya Janta Party National Vice President Om Mathur has made a major statement. Speaking on the issue, Mathur said that “after coming to power in 2019, the NRC shall be implemented in the whole country”. He said that under any circumstances the country will not be turned into a ‘dharmshala’(a building devoted to religious or charitable purposes). While addressing a media gathering in Rajasthan, Mathur said “Congress President is not true to his family as the NRC was initiated by then PM Indira Gandhi, but the party could not gather courage to implement it in last 10 years”. He said “The issue of infiltrators is being dealt with the whole country. There is no major country where Bangladeshi migrants don’t live. The NRC has so far been implemented only in Assam after SC order, but will soon be implemented in the whole country”. NRC is a big issue for 2019: Suggesting that the NRC issue would be a major poll plank for 2019 Lok Sabha polls, BJP President Amit Shah on Sunday reiterated his party will weed out Bangladeshi infiltrators from the country while Hindu refugees will be granted Indian citizenship. Shah was in Uttar Pradesh's Meerut to attend a two-day BJP State Working Committee meeting. Speaking on the NRC issue, Shah made it clear that "Bangladeshi infiltrators" would not be allowed to stay in the country at any cost and at the same time, the government will remain soft towards Hindu refugees.
