Saumitra has alleged that TMC is a party which can break families. He credited his wife for being a part of his victory in 2019 elections, but said now he has detached his name from hers.

Speaking to ABP News, an anguished Soumitra Khan said "Trinamool Congress has snatched away my love. I will now fight my political battle alone."

Ending weeks of suspense, West Bengal political heavyweight and TMC leader Suvendu Adhikari along with nine MLAs of different parties and a TMC MP joined the BJP at Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s rally in Midnapore las tweekend.
