BJP leader Arun Shourie hits out at Modi government, terms surgical strike against Pakistan as 'farzical' strike

Taking a dig at the Modi government, Shourie said it is the Indian Army who does the job, while the Centre takes all the credit and pats its back for what the army does. He further clarified by saying that the word 'farzical' was not used for the army but for the government.

New Delhi: Former Union Minister and BJP leader Arun Shourie hit out at the Narendra Modi government on Monday terming the much publicised surgical strike against Pakistan as a "farzical" (fake) strike. Speaking on the sidelines of a book launch "Kashmir: Glimpses of History..." penned by senior Congress leader Saifuddin Soz, the BJP leader attacked the Centre by saying that that it was a "one-trick horse" with no policy either on Kashmir or Pakistan. Taking a dig at the government, Shourie said it is the Indian Army who does the job, while the Centre takes all the credit and pats its back for what the army does. He further clarified by saying that the word 'farzical' was not used for the army but for the government. He added by saying that there has been no change in situation with surgical strikes. While commenting on the Kashmir unrest, the former Union Minister said the situation has been hurting the whole country and not just the Kashmiris and that the people should realise the fact. He said the people of Kashmir will have to stop playing the 'Victim Card'. Also Watch- He further termed the Modi government as "event-oriented and election-oriented". According to Shourie the focus of the government was just on organising events and winning elections with little heed to policy or governance. Shourie was quoted by IANS as saying, "There is no government and no policy regarding Kashmir or Pakistan or even the banks ... What we have is a one-trick horse that only knows how to divide the Hindus and Muslims of this country." Shourie also targeted the Centre's newly-declared "all out action" stance on Kashmir. He said that what he understood by this initiative of the government was that there would be "more aggressive target killings of individuals". He stressed that it would not be wise to use "foolish force" against the people.
