'Tell Us About The 2 Crore Jobs You Promised': Bihar Dy CM Tejashwi Hits Out After BJP Stages Protest

Bihar Deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav and JD(U) MLA Shalini Mishra criticised BJP's protest in Patna over the state's new teacher recruitment policy

Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav criticised the BJP protest held in Patna on Thursday questioning the BJP over its promise of providing 2 crore jobs. He also asked the Opposition party which alliance had been ruling Bihar before the ruling Mahagathbandhan alliance consisting of the JD(U), RJD, and the Congress. The Bihar government teacher job aspirants are up in arms against the Nitish Kumar government's no domicile policy of recruitment and the BJP, which shared power in Bihar till a year ago, hit the streets in their support.

"It has been made clear that we will talk to teachers once the Assembly session concludes. They (BJP) are creating nuisance for no reason. They (BJP) are asking for 10 lakh jobs. They should tell which state of the country has published advertisements for more than 3 lakh government jobs. We will fulfill our promise of 10 lakh jobs in our tenure but they should tell us about the 2 crore jobs which they had promised," Tejashwi Yadav remarked addressing the media.

Asking the BJP to present a clarification on inflation, he further asked: "Who was in power for the past 18 years before the Mahagathbandhan government?". The Deputy Chief Minister mentioned that teachers' bodies were not involved in today's protest and that the government is ready to listen to their woes.

JD(U) MLA Shalini Mishra emphasised that Bihar CM Nitish Kumar and Deputy CM Tejashwi assured in the meeting of MLAs that the teachers' recruitment matter will be resolved after July 14. "Despite that, BJP staged a protest as they don't have any other issue," she told news agency PTI.

'Democracy Murdered': Bihar BJP Chief Meets Workers Injured In Police Lathicharge

A fresh controversy ensued as the BJP claimed that its leader Vijay Kumar Singh, a resident of Jehanabad, died in a lathi charge amid their protest while the district administration in Patna said the deceased was "found unconscious by the roadside," PTI reported. "No injury marks have been found on his body," the statement read.

News agency ANI shared visuals of first-aid being given to BJP workers who were injured in the lathi charge by Police.

Bihar LoP and state BJP chief Samrat Choudhary met party workers who were injured in the Police lathi charge.

"BJP is observing today as a black day. Today, democracy was murdered. Vijay Singh was our brother and strengthened the party. We will fight against Nitish Kumar", the Bihar LoP and state BJP chief said, as quoted by ANI.

On July 11, teaching job aspirants staged a demonstration in Patna against the Nitish government's decision to remove the domicile policy in hiring 1.7 lakh teachers, which would let people from other states take part in the process. Some teachers also participated in the protest, as per PTI's report. The Education Department then directed the district education officers to identify those teachers.

Taking to Twitter, senior BJP leader and former deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi said, “Arrested by Bihar police in Patna, Jehanabad dist GS Vijay Kumar Singh died in brutal police lathi charge."

BJP president JP Nadda tweeted saying the lathi charge on BJP workers is a result of the failure and indignation of the state government.

“The Grand Alliance government is attacking democracy to save the citadel of corruption. To save the person who has been charge-sheeted, the chief minister of Bihar has even forgotten his morality," he wrote.
