Taking to the microblogging site, the minister said, "I underwent COVID-19 test today and it has turned out asymptomatically positive. My vitals are within normal limits and I have opted for home isolation."
Further in his post, Naik advised those who have come in contact with him in the last few days to get tested. "Those who have come in contact with me in last few days are advised to get tested for themselves and take required precautions," he tweeted.
A Lok Sabha MP from North Goa, Naik has been actively involved in examining the flood-affected areas of his constituency. The minister just two days ago had even launched a booklet and devotional CD ahead of the upcoming Ganesh Chaturthi festival.
The news of his COVID-19 test has come at the time when India again witnessed over 60,000 fresh cases on Wednesday, adding another lakh to its overall tally.

As per the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, a single-day spike of 60,963 cases and 834 deaths were reported in India, in the last 24 hours. So far 46,000 people have succumbed to the viral disease. The COVID-19 tally rises to 23,29,639 including 643948 active cases, 1639600 cured/discharged/migrated and 46091 deaths, Ministry of Health stated.
India’s recoveries have crossed the 15 lakh mark. Ministry of Health has said that ‘the TEST, TRACK, TREAT strategy showing desired result- early identification and prompt isolation/hospitalisation aiding exponential growth in recoveries. Total more than 15 lakhs."
