What is the Atma Nirbhar Uttar Pradesh Rozgar Abhiyan:

The employment scheme by Yogi government seeks to promote local entrepreneurship and create partnership with industrial associations to provide employment opportunities.

The scheme seeks to dovetail central and state government's programmes, while also creating partnerships with industry and other organisations as the COVID-19 pandemic affected workforce in general and migrant workers in particular.

  • Uttar Pradesh will become the first state in the country to give employment to one crore people in one go. Migrant workers who have returned to the state during lockdown will be major beneficiaries.

  • The Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) is a major contributor to employment since nearly 50 per cent of total jobs being created in Uttar Pradesh are under this scheme.
