According to the latest order by the Meerut Divisional Commissioner, night curfew hours in Noida, Meerut, Ghaziabad, Bulandshahr, Hapur, and Muzaffarnagar has changed to 8 pm-6 am. Earlier it was from 9 PM to 5 AM.

The order also said that those found flouting safety measures will be penalized and there will be strict control on movement within containment zones.

‘Those found without mask/spitting in public places to be penalized. Movement, except essential services, prohibited in containment zones’

Most of these districts fall within the ambit of Delhi NCR and according to the state, authorities contribute to the maximum number of cases in the state. According to a report by Hindustan Times, there are 225 containment zones in the Gautam Budh Nagar district which includes Noida and Greater Noida. Similarly, containment zones in Ghaziabad increased to 279 by last week. The state reported 654 new COVID 19 cases on Thursday and 15 fresh fatalities occurred because of COVID 19. At present, the state is among those that have recorded more than 10000 cases and has a total of 19,557 cases. The state has so far recorded 596 fatalities and has 6375 active cases.
