At 28.3%, Sikkim Witnesses Highest COVID Positivity Rate; Admits 226 New Cases
An all-time high since the outbreak of the Pandemic in 2020, Sikkim currently records 2,281 active cases out of the total 22,623 confirmed cases.
Gangtok: After 226 new cases were identified, Sikkim witnessed the till-date highest COVID positivity rate in the state, bringing the figure to a staggering 28.3 per cent.
An all-time high since the outbreak of the Pandemic in 2020, the state currently records 2,281 active cases out of the total 22,623 confirmed cases.
The highest numbers of new and active cases are recorded in the East District of the state, with recorded numbers, 144 and 1148 cases.
As of 12th July, Monday, 416 RT-PCR tests were done in the state, out of which 137 cases were adjudged to be positive. Alongside TRUNAT and Rapid Antigen Tests, this brought the statistics to 22623 active cases in the state out of the total 1,74,631 tests done since February 2020.
Inspite of the spike in positivity rate, new recoveries of the day, 170 patients, bring the respite digits to a total of 19,767 cases in the state. Setting an impressive record is nil deaths during the day.
On Monday, East Sikkim reported 42 new cases followed by West Sikkim (26), South Sikkim (17), and North Sikkim (five).
