CAG report on Rafale exposes 'lies of Mahajhootbandhan', ‘Satyamev Jayate’ prevails; says Jaitley
Jaitley said that the disclosure made by the CAG report has exposed the lies of the Congress and opposition parties. "The lies of 'Mahajhootbandhan' stand exposed by the CAG Report. How does democracy punish those who consistently lied to the nation?," he questioned in the tweet.
New Delhi: Union Minister Arun Jaitley launched a scathing attack on the opposition parties after the CAG report on Rafale deal that was tabled in the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday revealed that the deal negotiated by the NDA in 2016 was 2.86 per cent cheaper than what was negotiated by the UPA in 2007.
Jaitley said that the disclosure made by the CAG report has exposed the lies of the Congress and opposition parties. "The lies of 'Mahajhootbandhan' stand exposed by the CAG Report. How does democracy punish those who consistently lied to the nation?," he questioned in the tweet.
"It cannot be that the Supreme Court is wrong, the CAG is wrong and only the dynast is right. Satyameva Jayate" – the truth shall prevail. The CAG Report on Rafale reaffirms the dictum," Jaitley said in a series of tweet.
He said, the CAG report clearly outlines that 2016 deal terms were lower in terms of price, faster in terms of delivery, while ensuring better maintenance and lower escalation. Hours before the CAG report was tabled in the House, Congress boss Rahul Gandhi, UPA chief Sonia Gandhi, former prime minister Manmohan Singh and other senior Congress leaders protested against the Rafale deal outside Parliament. Rahul Gandhi tweeted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi “defended his personal Rafale bypass deal” with arguments that the new price for the fighter jets is lower than the one proposed during the Congress-led UPA regime and that the delivery will be faster.Arun Jaitley: CAG report has completely vindicated stand of NDA Govt. It has blasted the big lie which was being spearheaded by the Congress. The Congress President had manufactured a statistic 500 vs 1600, data which doesn't exist anywhere. He repeated that lie ad nauseam #Rafale pic.twitter.com/ZG7BNA7Va5
