Anti-romeo ‘sham’: 18-yr-old UP girl kills self after repeated eve-teasing; no action yet

Uttar Pradesh: After repeatedly facing eve-teasing and abuse, an 18-year-old girl from Kannauj committed suicide on Thursday; raising several questions on the security and women safety measures claimed by Yogi Government. The circumstances under which she killed self are something Uttar Pradesh police should be ashamed of. As per reports, Radha was being eve-teased by Pradeep, a local boy of her locality for several months. But, no one came for her rescue. After Radha registered a complaint against the incident, a panchayat was also called, where the village panchayat rather than handing over the accused to the police, left him after issuing a warning. This gave him further courage to abuse Radha. Anti-romeo ‘sham’: 18-yr-old UP girl kills self after repeated eve-teasing; no action yet Speaking to ABP News, one of the relatives of Radha said, “if the Pradhan wanted, he could have saved the life of Radha by acting against the accused”. Watching Radha file complaint against him, Pradeep got enraged and thrashed Radha after entering her house forcefully. This left a very strong impact on Radha’s mind, for she was afraid she would be humiliated in the whole village, therefore, she killed herself by consuming poison. The police, who didn’t come forward when Radha was alive, are now claiming to have filed an FIR, after an innocent life has been wasted. The incident comes as an eye opener and gives a clear picture of the current safety condition of Uttar Pradesh. It also comes as a complete failure of ‘Anti-Romeo Squad’ which initiated by CM yogi Adityanath to check the safety of women in the state.
