Amit Shah Chairs Meeting With Delhi LG, CM And Other Officials Over Coronavirus Situation

Amid the surging numbers of Coronavirus cases in the national capital, Shah has been regularly holding meetings with key officials and top ministers to review the evolving situation of the pandemic in the region.

Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday evening chaired another meeting in the series to review the outbreak of deadly COVID-19 situation in Delhi and NCR. ALSO READ | Satyendar Jain Health Condition Stable; Likely To be Shifted To General Ward Tomorrow

The review meeting at the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) was attended by Delhi Lt Governor Anil Baijal, Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan, Health Secretary Priti Sudan and other senior officials. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia attended the meeting via video conferencing.

Delhi is the third-worst affected state in the country with cases inching toward the 50 k mark. At present, the state has a total of 56,746 cases with 31,294, active cases and 2,112 fatalities caused due Coronavirus.

Meanwhile, after being opposed by the chief minister and his deputy CM at a meeting of the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal on Saturday took back his order for a five-day institutional quarantine for Covid-19 patients in the national capital.

Only those Covid-19 positive patients who don't require hospitalisation on clinical assessment and don't have adequate facilities for home isolation will need to undergo institutional isolation," Baijal said.

On Friday, Baijal had ordered a five-day institutional quarantine for all asymptomatic COVID-19 patients or those with mild symptoms. He also ordered that after the five-day institutional quarantine asymptomatic patients will be sent for home isolation.
