Ajay Maken has been appointed as the Treasurer of the All India Congress Committee, with immediate effect replacing Congress leader Pawan Bansal.
The Indian National Congress (INC) announced the appointment of senior leader Ajay Maken as its new treasurer, succeeding Pawan Kumar Bansal. Maken, known for his close association with Rahul Gandhi, has assumed this key role following his resignation as Congress general secretary in charge of Rajasthan several months ago.
In an official statement, party general secretary K C Venugopal confirmed the appointment, declaring that Ajay Maken would serve as the treasurer of the All India Congress Committee (AICC) with immediate effect. The statement also expressed the party's appreciation for the contributions of outgoing treasurer Pawan Kumar Bansal, who had been serving in an interim capacity after the unfortunate passing of Ahmed Patel.
Following the announcement, Maken took to X to thank the top Congress leadership and stated: "I assure both my leaders and the workers of our party that as a custodian of their contributions, I will work with the utmost diligence, honesty, and dedication."
I am currently in Raipur attending the screening committee meeting. I have been informed of my appointment as the treasurer of @INCIndia. This is indeed a significant responsibility.
