AAP Will Contest 2023 Panchayat Elections In West Bengal, Says Party In-Charge Sanjoy Basu

Bengal AAP in-charge Sanjoy Basu on Monday said the AAP would contest the 2023 panchayat elections in the state.

New Delhi: Following its landslide win in the Punjab Assembly election, the AAP has set its sights on West Bengal as it seeks to expand its national footprint. Bengal AAP in-charge Sanjoy Basu on Monday said the AAP would contest the 2023 panchayat elections in the state.

"Aam Aadmi Party will contest the 2023 Panchayat elections in West Bengal. On the instructions of the party high command, its local unit has already started its campaign. AAP held a rally in Kolkata on March 13," ANI quoted Sanjoy Basu as saying.

The remarks come as AAP held a victory rally or 'Padarpan Yatra' in Kolkata on Sunday from Girish Park till Esplanade in the heart of the city. The AAP had won 92 of 117 seats in Punjab with a vote share of 42.1 per cent.

AAP Holds Massive Victory Rally In Kolkata

During the victory rally, hundreds of AAP workers were seen carrying posters of party convenor and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Punjab CM designate Bhagwant Mann.

Many of them were seen donning the AAP caps while some were also seen holding the party symbol "jhadu" in their hands during the rally. Slogans of "Kejri Bhai Zindabad" were also heard at the rally.

Sanjoy Basu shared photos of the event on his official Twitter handle, calling it the Aam Aadmi Party's largest-ever gathering in Kolkata.

"Hundreds gathered at the Thanksgiving rally at a short notice of Aam Aadmi Party West Bengal is overwhelming. We will move from here on to every corner of Bengal like wildfire. Long live Revolution," he tweeted.

AAP To Start Campaigning In Poll Bound Himachal Pradesh, Gujarat

Apart from this, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is also preparing to hit the ground in Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat, where assembly elections will be held later this year.

AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal, along with Punjab Chief Minister-designate Bhagwant Mann, will campaign in the two poll-bound states, reported news agency ANI.

In the recently concluded Punjab assembly election, AAP recorded a landslide victory by grabbing 92 of the 117 constituencies in the state. The party is already in power in the national capital Delhi.
