80% of IT, ED's raids on basis of black money information by PMO
New Delhi: The ongoing raids to nab persons holding unaccounted cash or black money have been carried out on the basis of credible information received directly from the Prime Minister’s Office.
After demonetization on November 8, Sources say there has been an unprecedented flow of information via phone calls coming into the PMO which is then being passed on directly to the Income Tax and Enforcement Directorate Department.
The Income Tax and Enforcement Directorate’s sleuths have upped the ante against black money hoarders and 80% of the raids are due to tip off received from the PMO.
Post demonetization, the PMO has been receiving 15-20 phone calls everyday and has received over 600 calls so far. The details are noted by PMO officials and passed on to the IT and ED department who act swiftly.
Local police is also informed when notes are transported from one place to the other. So far the information that’s been provided has been 100% accurate. A helpline number was also set up to address information and complaints about black money hoarders but it appears that people trust the PMO more while passing on critical details.
