Independence Day 2022: Delhi Police On Alert As IB Suspects Attacks By Terror Outfits — Details
The Intelligence Bureau has asked Delhi Police to keep a vigil as it suspects attacks by Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Mohammed, and Lashkar-e-Khalsa.
New Delhi: Amid the 75th Independence Day preparations across the country, intelligence agencies have issued alerts suspecting terror attacks. The Intelligence Bureau has asked Delhi Police to remain on high alert and enforce strict entry rules at Red Fort. Every year on Independence Day, the Prime Minister of the country hoists the national flag at the Red Fort in Delhi.
The Intelligence Bureau, in one of its reports, has expressed the possibility of terror activities by Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), and other such radical organisations.
The report mentions the assassination of former Japanese prime minister Shinzo Abe. Abe was killed by a bystander earlier this month when he was addressing a gathering ahead of the general elections. The report also mentions the recent communal incidents in Rajasthan’s Udaipur and Maharashtra’s Amravati.
While in Udaipur, a Hindu tailor was beheaded by a Muslim radical youth, a chemist was stabbed to death in Amravati. Both the killings were related to the deceased supporting Nupur Sharma’s controversial remarks on Prophet Mohammed.
The Intelligence Bureau has asked Delhi Police to keep a vigil on radical outfits to avoid any such incidents.
According to the report, Pakistan is provoking terrorist attacks by giving logistics support to Jaish and Lashkar terrorists, further adding that JeM and LeT were being instructed to target prominent leaders and important places.
The report has warned that Afghan fighters have been included in Lashkar-e-Khalsa (LeK), an ISI-backed radical organisation demanding the "liberation" of Punjab from India. The Border Security Force (BSF) has also been put on alert as LeK besides LeT and JeM can carry out terror attacks in Jammu and Kashmir.
