4 CRPF Personnel Killed, 3 Injured After Colleague Opens Fire In Chhattisgarh's Sukma

As per preliminary information, a jawan opened fire at his colleagues with his service weapon, an AK-47 rifle

New Delhi: As many as four CRPF personnel lost their lives and three were left injured after a jawan opened fire at his colleagues in Chhattisgarh's Sukma. According to a PTI report, the jawan shot them at a camp of the paramilitary force in Chhattisgarh's Sukma district on Monday.

The incident occurred at around 3.45 am in the camp of CRPF's 50th battalion in Lingampalli village of the district, around 400 km from the state capital Raipur, Inspector General of Police (Bastar range) Sundarraj P said.

"In a case of fratricide, the jawan, identified as Reetesh Ranjan, opened fire on fellow soldiers in C/50 Lingalapalli under PS Maraiguda in early hours at about 3:45 am", according to an official statement.

As per preliminary information, a jawan opened fire at his colleagues with his service weapon, an AK-47 rifle, the official said.



The jawan was immediately held and his interrogation is underway, he said.

The jawans injured in the incident of fratricide were rushed to the nearest hospital - Area Hospital Bhadrachalem (in Telangana) for treatment.
