Indore: Amid the ongoing Lok Sabha polls, Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu continued his relentless attack on the Bharatiya Janta Party, terming the BJP as ‘kale angrez’and urged people in Indore to vote the party out of power and save the country. Lauding the efforts of the Congress, Sidhu said the grand old party was the party of Maulana Azad and Mahatma Gandhi that fought for India’s independence and got it free from the clutches of the British colonial rule. Meanwhile, the Election Commission (EC) issued a fresh notice to Sidhu for his "objectionable comments" against PM Narendra Modi saying it violated the Model Code of Conduct. Sidhu has 24 hours to respond to the EC’s notice. Addressing a rally in Madhya Pradesh the Congress leader had accused the PM of "benefitting businessman Anil Ambani and making money in the Rafale jet deal" and "doing politics on the corpses of martyrs". He also called Modi as the "biggest traitor" of the country. In April, the Election Commission had barred Sidhu from campaigning for 72 hours after it found him guilty of violating the Model Code of Conduct for his allegedly communal remarks. Sidhu is the star campaigner for the Congress and recently a woman was detained for allegedly attempting to throw her footwear at him during a public meeting because he spoke against PM Modi.
