New Delhi:  The all-party meet held by the Union Home Minister to review the management for coronavirus in the National Capital concluded on Monday afternoon. Several important decisions were taken in the meeting and these are the key highlights:

  • Delhi BJP Chief informed that the national capital will start conducting 18,000 Covid-19 testing per day by 20th June.

  • Adesh Kumar Gupta also informed that BJP demanded that 50% charges should be waived off on testing. This demand has been approved by Union Home Minister Amit Shah

  • A committee by V K Paul will submit a report in 2 days and then price capping will be done for the private hospitals in the national capital.

  • New testing process will cost Rs 450 and will be introduced soon in the national capital: Sanjay Singh, AAP Leader

  • AAP leader Sanjay Singh who was present in the meeting said that important decisions have been taken to increase the bed capacity for Covid patients.

  • State government hospitals will increase bed capacity by 1900 while Central government hospital will add 2000 more beds: Sanjay Singh

  • Private hospitals will also increase the number of beds by 1178: Sanjay Singh


Today's meeting comes a day after he held a high-level meeting with Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, following which he laid out a number of measures to battle the capital's COVID-19 crisis.

After the meeting with the Delhi CM, Home Minister Amit Shah had announced that the Modi govt will immediately provide 500 converted rail coaches to the Delhi govt, adding 8,000 beds for COVID-19 patients. Shah also said that the testing capacity will double in 2 days and treble in 6 days to make the national capital Corona free.

The Home Minister also said that the central government will provide maximum support to the Delhi government to deal with the pandemic and will provide oxygen cylinders and ventilators as required. The central give has also formed a special committee to analyze the situation and facilities provided by the govt and private hospitals in the national capital.

At the meeting, the Congress demanded that COVID-19 testing to be provided to all and that Rs 10,000 be paid to every family in which a member is infected or in a containment zone. The party also demanded that medical students in their fourth year be used as non-permanent resident doctors. The party said there is a sense of fear among the residents of Delhi and that those wanting to take a COVID-19 test must be facilitated to do the required testing which has been approved.
