As the National Capital is plunging deep in the Coronavirus crisis, a slew of measures were taken in the crucial meeting between the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Delhi administration including the Delhi government and the Lieutenant Governor. The meeting comes in the wake of increasing number of coronavirus cases in Delhi, where the tally has reached nearly 39,000 cases and the death toll rose to over 1,200. After the meeting, Shah tweeted : “Modi govt is committed to control spread of Covd-19 in Delhi. Today, several important decisions were taken to protect people of Delhi & to prevent this infection, in the meeting held with Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan, Delhi LG Anil Baijal & CM Arvind Kejriwal."

Among the number of key decisions taken, the crucial ones are enlisted below:

  • Testing for Covid-19 to be doubled in the next couple of days in Delhi and in the next 6 days, tripled

  • Comprehensive house-to-house health survey will be done in Delhi containment zones for contact tracing

  • Modi government will provide 500 railway coaches to Delhi in view of shortage of beds for patients. These railway coaches won't only increase 8000 beds in Delhi but these coaches will be equipped with all facilities to fight Covid-19.

  • Covid-19 tests will be started at every polling station in Delhi containment zones in a few days.

  • The Government of India has fully assured the Government of Delhi to make available necessary resources like oxygen cylinders, ventilators, pulse oximeters and all other requirements to fight this epidemic

  • For the treatment of Covid-19 in private hospitals in Delhi, a committee has been formed under the chairmanship of Dr. Paul to provide 60% of the Covid beds in private hospitals at a low rate, to fix corona treatment & COVID testing which will submit its report by tomorrow

  • To provide correct information & guidelines to small hospitals in Delhi, Modi government has decided to constitute a committee of senior doctors for telephonic guidance in AIIMS. The helpline number will be released tomorrow.


We will fight against corona together: Kejriwal

After the meeting got over, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal said that the Centre and the state have come together to fight the pandemic. "Extremely productive meeting between Delhi govt and Central govt. Many key decisions taken. We will fight the battle against Corona together," he said.
