17th major terror attack under Modi regime, says Congress' Randeep Surjewala

Congress president Rahul Gandhi also reacted to the deadly attack saying, "I’m deeply disturbed by the cowardly attack on a #CRPF convoy in J&K in which many of our brave CRPF men have been martyred and a large number wounded, some critically. My condolences to the families of our martyrs. I pray for the speedy recovery of the injured."

New Delhi: The Congress party on Thursday criticised the Modi government for its inefficiency in restricting terror attacks in the country. Briefing the press over the deadly terror attack in Pulwama in which over 18 CRPF jawans were killed, Randeep Surjewala said this was the 17th biggest terror attack in the last five years. The Congress spokesperson cited examples of Uri, Amarnath yatra, Gurdaspur, Pampore, taking place “under the nose of Narendra Modi’s government.” “Our jawans Mandeep and Narender Singh were beheaded by Pakistani terrorists and its army but Modiji remained quiet,” he added. I pray for the speedy recovery of the injured." Pakistan-based Jaish-E-Mohammed has claimed responsibility for the attack whose terrorists detonated an improvised explosive device (IED) and opened fire at their vehicle on the Srinagar-Jammu highway in Awantipura. Reports say the Adil Ahmed Dar, a terrorist of JeM, rammed a vehicle he was driving into one of the buses of the CRPF battalion. The cowardly attack took place at Lechpora, about 30 km from Srinagar. Reports said the death toll could rise as some of the injured Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel were in a serious condition.
