Amritsar: At least 125 passengers of a charter flight from Italy have tested Covid-19 positive on their arrival at Punjab’s Amritsar Airport, officials on Thursday said.
There were 179 passengers onboard the Italy-Amritsar charter flight.
“A charter flight flew from Italy to Amritsar with 179 passengers. Of them, 160 were tested on arrival and 125 were found positive. The remaining 19 passengers were children and infants and exempt from testing. It was not an Air India flight,” ANI quoted Amritsar Airport Director V.K. Seth as saying.
It was earlier reported that 125 passengers of an Air India flight had tested Covid-19 positive.
Meanwhile, over 148 crore 67 lakh Covid-19 vaccine doses have been administered so far under Nationwide Vaccination Drive.
“India’s active caseload currently stands at 2,85,401. Active cases account for less than 1% of total cases, currently at 0.81%,” the Union Health Ministry said in a release.
The ministry said the recovery rate is currently at 97.81%.
With 19,206 recoveries in the last 24 hours, the total recoveries in the country currently stands at 3,43,41,009.
Around 90,928 new Covid-19 cases have been reported in the last 24 hours.
The daily positivity rate is 6.43%, while the weekly positivity rate is 3.47%, as per the ministry.
Asserting the testing capacity across the country continues to be expanded, the ministry further said the last 24 hours saw a total of 14,13,030 tests being conducted.
“India has so far conducted over 68.53 crore (68,53,05,751) cumulative tests,” the ministry added.
