New Delhi: Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Thursday said the Delhi government has extended the application deadline for nursery admissions in the private schools by two weeks in view of the rapid surge in Covid-19 cases in the national capital.

“Keeping in view the prevailing Covid conditions, the last date for filing applications for admission in nursery and entry level classes in private schools of Delhi is being extended for further two weeks,” he tweeted.

Sisodia’s remarks came as the last date to apply for admissions to entry level classes in the private schools in Delhi was January 7.

A formal order to this effect has, however, not yet been issued by the Delhi education department.

The process of admissions for nursery classes in the private schools in Delhi had begun earlier on December 15.

The Directorate of Education had earlier in November last year notified the admission schedule.

The details of the students, who have applied for the school for admission under open seats will be uploaded on January 21, as per the notification issued earlier by the Directorate of Education, which has also made it optional for the parents to purchase the prospectus.

The first list of the selected students will be uploaded on February 4, the second list will be displayed on February 21 and any ensuing list by March 15.

The admission process, according to the schedule issued earlier by the Directorate of Education, is to close on March 31.
