India-made Mercedes-Benz GLC launched at Rs. 47.90 lakh

  New Delhi: After launching the Mercedes-Benz GLC in India, via the CBU, in June 2016, the German carmaker has now launched the locally assembled version of the GLC in India, at a starting price of Rs. 47.90 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The GLC-Class comes in three variants as the GLC 220d 4MATIC Style, GLC 220d 4MATIC Sport and the GLC 300 4MATIC Sport. It is also built on the MRA platform of the Mercedes-Benz, while it also carries forward a few of the design traits from the C-Class sedan. The Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class is also a success to the GLK-Class. The front-grille has horizontal chrome slats, with the Mercedes-Benz logo placed right in the middle of the grille. The headlamp cluster consists of the LED headlights and the DRLs. The interiors with the Comand Infotainment system, steering wheel, dashboard, etc. all resemble the C-Class. However, some of the features and the equipment that were part of the CBU model of the GLC-Class have been forgone. The India-made GLC gets dual-zone climate control in place of the three-zone climate control system of the CBU GLC. Similarly, while the memory seats and electric tailgate aren’t provided on the India-made GLC, the navigation standard also optional, though it was a standard feature on the CBU model. The made in India GLC-Class gets powered by petrol as well as diesel powertrains. In the GLC 220d, the 2.1-litre, 4-cylinder diesel mill does duty producing 168 bhp of power and 400 Nm of torque. The petrol-powered variant the GLC 300 draws power from a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder motor that makes a good 241 bhp of power and 370 Nm of torque. Both the petrol and diesel motors get mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission. The assembling of the GLC-Class takes place at the Mercedes Benz’s Chakan plant near Pune. The SUV also gets 5 driving modes as the Individual, Comfort, Eco, Sport and Sport +. The GLC-Class is the ninth model that gets locally made in India from the Mercedes-Benz stables. Source: vicky.in
