Hyundai Venue (Maruti Brezza Rival) To Launch In May
The Hyundai SUV is expected to be priced from Rs 8 lakh to 12 lakh
Hyundai had confirmed earlier that the Venue will make its global debut on 17 April 2019. But what the carmaker has not revealed yet is when the sub-4m SUV will go on sale in the country. Now, thanks to some authorized Hyundai dealers in the country, we can say that the Hyundai SUV will go on sale in India in May 2019, around a month after its official debut. So, while the official launch of the SUV is still about two months and the unveiling is around 15 days away, let’s take a look at what we know about the upcoming Brezza rival so far.
Spy shots reveal that the Venue will feature Kona-like styling. It features LED DRLs and the headlamps housed inside the front bumper, while the top spot has been taken by what look like LED turn indicators. At the back, the SUV features a boxy silhouette featuring the squaring tail lamps and the Venue moniker at the centre of the boot lid. The Venue is the first Hyundai SUV after the Palisade (not on sale in India) to get the name badging at the centre of the boot lid.
The side shot reveals that the SUV will be equipped with 16-inch dual tone alloys wrapped in 205/60-section tyres, at least in the top variant. Inside the cabin, the Venue gets an all-black treatment with silver inserts on the AC vents and the steering.
On the features front, Hyundai has confirmed that the Venue will be equipped with segment-first E-SIM technology that will offer various functionalities such as remote access for engine start/stop, climate control, door lock, horn honk and lights functions through Hyundai’s mobile app. It will also allow the user to track information like vehicle tracking, geo fencing and speed alerts on their mobile phones.
Apart from the official announcements, some spy shots also put light on the feature list of the Venue. As per those, the Venue will be equipped with features such as electric sunroof, auto AC, steering-mounted controls, cruise control, adjustable front and rear headrests and a semi-digital instrument cluster like the Tata Harrier.
The Venue should also get features like six airbags, ABS with EBD, wireless mobile charger, auto dimming IRVM and auto headlamps, like other Hyundai cars. However, there is no official confirmation regarding these as of now.
Under the bonnet, the Venue is expected to get three engine options. Along with a set of 1.4-litre petrol and diesel engines from the Verna, the Venue is likely to receive a new 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol unit as well. It is expected to produce 100-120PS of power and around 172Nm of torque with a 7-speed dual clutch transmission.
The 1.4-litre units, on the other hand, are likely to have power and torque figures identical to what they produce on the Verna and come mated to a 6-speed MT.
As mentioned above, the Hyundai Venue is expected to go on sale in May 2019. Prices are expected to start from Rs 8 lakh and go upto Rs 12 lakh, while it will take on the likes of the Maruti Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon, Ford EcoSport and the Mahindra XUV300.
