Haryana CM Condemns Karnal Protest; Accuse Congress, Communist Parties Of Playing Role In Farmer's Agitation

Haryana CM Manohar Lal addressed a press conference condemning the Karnal incident and blaming Bharatiya Kisan Union chief Gurnam Singh Chaduni for having a role in it.

Stressing the need for merit-based selection in government jobs to ensure an effective and efficient system of governance, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Friday said about 70,000 youngsters were recruited through the HPSC and the HSSC in the state in the last five years.

Hours after a violent clash between security forces and protesters in Karnal, Haryana CM Manohar Lal addressed a press conference condemning today's incident and blaming Bharatiya Kisan Union chief Gurnam Singh Chaduni for having a role in it. "Admin had spoken to protesting farmers yesterday. They had agreed to hold a symbolic protest but no agitation. Trusting them, adminn had made all preparations. Over 5000 people were present at the event today. But some youth failed to keep their promise," the Chief Minister said. His remarks came after hundreds of farmers gathered at the venue of ‘kisan mahapanchayat’ programme where Manohar Lal Khattar was going to meet farmers and discuss their concerns over Centre’s three agriculture laws. However, few miscreants uprooted tents and vandalised the stage at the venue. Later, the police hurled tear gas shells upon them and even lathi charged to control the chaos. Speaking further over today's ruckus, the CM mentioned of a video of Bharatiya Kisan Union chief Gurnam Singh Chaduni, accusing him of trying to instigate people. "If I have to hold someone responsible for this, then a video of Gurnam Singh Chaduni (Bharatiya Kisan Union chief) has been circulating since day before yesterday wherein he had tried to instigate people," Khattar said, adding "They are getting exposed. I think Congress and Communist parties have a major role behind these agitations." Questioning the reason behind the attack, the CM said that these people have defamed the farmers because a farmer doesn’t have such nature. "Today's incident gave a message to people, bigger than what I'd intended to give. These people have defamed the farmers because a farmer doesn't have such nature. A farmer can be less educated or simple but he's sensible," CM Khattar said, Responding to a question about Haryana government's Covid-19 vaccine rollout plan, Khattar said that the vaccine will be given free of cost to the poor in the state. It will be good if some people support us in subsidising it, as the expenses will be high, Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar said.
