Kochi: Passenger Carrying Gold Concealed In Rectum Detained At Airport

The Customs official found capsule-shaped packets containing gold in paste form weighing 554.600 grams in the rectum of the passenger.

The Customs officials recovered two capsule-shaped packets containing gold paste weighing 554.600 grams and two crude gold chains weighing 230.300 from a passenger traveling from Malaysia to Kochi on Monday. The passenger has been identified as Muhammadali Gafoor. The Customs found capsule-shaped packets containing gold in paste form in the rectum of the passenger.

According to ANI, “A passenger, Muhammadali Gafoor - travelling from Malaysia to Kochi was intercepted and detained at Cochin International Airport. Two capsule-shaped packets containing gold in paste, totally weighing 554.600 grams concealed inside his rectum and two crude gold chains totally weighing 230.300 grams concealed inside his hand baggage were recovered and seized. Further investigations are going on.”

Earlier, Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) of the Customs department had seized 1260 grams of gold worth 53 lakhs at Kochi airport from a passenger travelling from Sharjah to Kochi. The accused was identified as Muhammad Suhaib. 

On June 1, Kochi Customs officials seized gold worth Rs 47.2 lakh from two passengers in two different cases. The first passenger arrived from Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia, Thaneswaran Kuppuswamy had arrived by Malindo Airlines. 

During the combing by officials, it was found that Thaneswaran had found carrying 710.30 gram of gold worth Rs 37.22 lakh. Of the total 710.30 grams, the Customs seized three crude chains (567.41g), two gold pendants (40.58g) and a gold bangle (102.4g). The passenger had kept the gold under his clothes. In another case, passenger Mohammed Rasheed smuggled gold worth Rs 10 lakh from Sharjah by Air India flight.
