However, the immensely loved IM, every now and then, faces some technical glitches forcing people to take to social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter to compliant about the same.
Even last week, Whatsapp went down forcing millions of users in India and elsewhere to take to social media platforms to report the glitch with issue in privacy settings of the mobile application as well as last seen online status not working.
According to outage monitor portal Down Detector, there was a 66 per cent spike in WhatsApp down reports, with last seen online status not working for them as well as 28 per cent reporting connection issues.

Both Android and iOS WhatsApp users took to Twitter to report the issues which was resolved at the earliest possible. But unlike WhatApps' previous outages, this time the technical glitch seems to have not been resolved completely.
Several users are still complaining about WhatsApp notifications getting delayed or not working at all. Reportedly, the issue is more evident on Android devices.
These issues can be attributed to multiple factors such as battery saving mode switched on, WhatsApp not using mobile/wi-fi data in the background and more. This article will guide you through 5 simple tricks to fix the WhatsApp notification issue on iPhone and Android devices. Let's get started:
Updated Your WhatsApp Version
WhatsApp after every small interval update its version on iOS and Android. Having a buggy or an older version of WhatApp could be one reasons why you are still facing notification issue in your phone. It is suggested that users must navigate to App Store or the Google Play Store and update their Whatsapp to the latest version.
Turn On The Notifications
This might sound unusual, but several WhatsApp users mistakenly or sometimes intentionally deny "Notification On" permission while installing the application. It is always advised to take a took at the notification permission on iOS and Android and turn it on.
iPhone users can open the WhatsApp app and go to Settings > Notifications and turn on notifications for Messages and Groups. Likewise for Android users, just long tap the WhatsApp icon and open App info. Go to Manage Notifications and toggle on "Allow Notifications".
Turn On Background App Refresh
For an uninterrupted notification feature, users must allow WhatsApp to run properly in the background. For iPhone users, you can go to devise Settings > WhatsApp > and toggle on the Background App Refresh option.
Similarly, Android users can long tap on the WhatsApp app icon to open application info. Go to mobile data & Wi-Fi and toggle on Background data option.
Turn On Mobile Data For WhatsApp
All iOS devices allow you to chose whether you want to restrict mobile data use for certain applications from the setting menu. If you have denied permission to WhatsApp to use mobile data, you might to be able to receive notification on your iPhone.
To enable mobile data for WhatsApp, open Setting app on the iPhone and scroll down to WhatsApp icon and allow mobile data for the app.
Turn Off Battery Saver Mode
Battery saver mode in iPhone and Android devices are usually designed to enhance the battery life. This, however, restricts or stops several features and functions of your device.
It trims down the functions of several apps running in the background, including WhatsApp. While using low power mode, one might face problems in receiving notifications on iPhone and Android.
In order to turn off Battery saver mode, open iPhone Settings app > Battery and turn off Low Power Mode. Likewise in Android, open Settings > Battery and switch off battery saver mode.
