New Delhi: Global tech giant Google, just a few days back, announced to change its current unlimited online data storage policy. In the unlimited data storage policy, Google Photos app users got unlimited backups of their photos, videos, and other multimedia files. According to the company, Google Photos app users won’t get free unlimited backups after June 1, 2021.

Currently, the company offers a total of 15 GB of free online data storage for Gmail, Drive, Docs, and Photos. Exhausting the given limit, users will be required to buy a Google One plan to continue using the Google services.

What is Google One?

Google One is a subscription service developed by Google that offers expanded cloud storage and is intended for the consumer market. Every Google Account starts with 15 GB of free storage that is shared across Google Drive, Gmail, and Google Photos. Google One paid plans offer cloud storage starting at 100 GB, up to a maximum of 30 TB.

How To Get Google One?

Here are the steps one need to follow for installing Google One:

  • Open the Google Play Store on an Android device.

  • Search for Google One.

  • Locate and tap the entry by Google, LLC.

  • Tap Install.

  • Allow the installation to complete.

Is Google One Available For Apple Users?

The subscription service app is also available for Apple users. iOS users can now back up their phone’s photos, contacts, calendars, and more using the app. So, if you own both an Android and iOS device, then all your data will be synced and can be seen in one place.

Current Offers in India

As the company aims to end the free service by June 2021, it has offered a 50 per cent discount on more than plans above 1 TB. The Google One subscription for 10TB storage will now cost Rs 3,250 per month. The plan earlier used to cost Rs 6,500 per month. The 20TB plan’s cost has been reduced to Rs 6,500 per month, down from Rs 13,000 per month earlier, while the 30TB plan will now cost Rs 9,750 per month down from Rs 19,500 per month.
