New Delhi: Several android users on Friday evening faced technical glitch with photo and video sharing social networking platform Instagram as the mobile application reportedly crashed on being launched on smartphones. Several users took to micro-blogging site Twitter and reported the issue using hashtag #Instagramdown.


According to a report by website Downdetector.com, the Facebook-owned photo/video sharing app has been facing problems since 4 pm (IST) and many users have complaint of services not being fully restored.

Several Instagram users posted a screenshot of the error which shows a warning message - "Instagram has stopped working" - upon scrolling through the news feed or even while opening the app.

The outage comes days after thousands of Android users across the globe reported error while using YouTube, Gmail, Google Docs and other Google services on December 14. Gmail users even faced similar crashed on December 15 and 16.

Instagram has not officially stated the reason of the crash and the company is yet to make a statement on the tecnical glitch faced by thousands of Android users.
