Desi TikTok Rival 'Mitron' Gets Suspended From Google Play Store, Here's Why!
After reports of 'Mitron' being a replica of Pakistani app 'TicTic', the TikTok rival has been removed from Google's Play Store.
New Delhi: Mitron, touted to be India's answer to Chinese video app TikTok, has been suspended from Google's Play Store.
There is no statement from Mitron TV confirming the exact reason that has led to the action by search giant Google but reasons of security concerns are being speculated.
Recently, it was reported that Mitron is actually a rebranded version of a Pakistani app TicTic. The source code was sold by Qboxus, a software developing company from Pakistan.
Now as per the latest reports, the Mitron app has been removed for violating Google's ‘spam and minimum functionality' policy. The company does not allow apps to be exact replica of others. A mobile application must have original changes to offer so as to provide a new experience for users.
So the source code of the Indian video app is claimed to be exactly the same as TicTic without making suitable changes for making it more secure with respect to users' data.
As India continues to witness a rising popular sentiment against using Chinese products - Mitron app became one of the first apps to benefit from the wave as the app got over 5 million downloads.
As of now, there are other apps available on Play Store by the same name but the app offered by Mitron TV stands suspended.
