Govt Bans Another Set Of 43 Chinese Apps Prejudicial To India's Sovereignty, Integrity | Check Full List Here

The Indian government has again blocked a set of mobile apps over concerns affecting the nation's sovereignty, integrity, defence, security and public order. Know all about it here

New Delhi: Indian government has blocked another set of 43 mobile apps in India. The action has been taken based on inputs regarding these apps for "engaging in activities prejudicial to India's sovereignty, integrity, defence, security, and public order". ALSO READ | PM Modi Asks States To Start Working For Cold Storage Facilities; Warns Against Complacency Before Vaccine "Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India today issued an order under section 69A of the Information Technology Act blocking access to 43 mobile apps. This action was taken based on the inputs regarding these apps for engaging in activities which are prejudicial to sovereignty and integrity of India, defence of India, the security of the state and public order," the order reads. It was further informed that the order for blocking the access of these apps by users in India was based on the comprehensive reports received from the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Center, Ministry of Home Affairs. Here is the list of apps that have now been blocked:

  11. Chinese Social - Free Online Dating Video App & Chat
  12. Date in Asia - Dating & Chat For Asian Singles
  13. WeDate-Dating App

Earlier on June 29, the central government had blocked access to 59 mobile apps, and then on September 2, 118 more apps were banned under section 69A of the Information Technology Act.

Popular apps to be blocked include TikTok, UC Browser, WeChat, Xiaomi’s apps - Mi Video Call, MI Community and more. Even popular gaming app PUBG faced the brunt of tensed India-China relations as it was blocked in the country over its association with Chinese multinational technology conglomerate Tencent.

"Government is committed to protecting the interests of citizens and sovereignty and integrity of India on all fronts and it shall take all possible steps to ensure that," the official response stated on Tuesday.
