How To Tackle The Problem Of Rat Infestation In Cars

Change and park your car on a spot that is less likely to have rats nearby plus also in lit areas besides changing the spot every few days.

New Delhi, May 4: As most of us are confined to homes because of the nationwide lockdown, our cars are also not being used for a long time now. The cars on standby can lead to potential problems with your car and some of those problems have been discussed in the past here. Today, however, we will discuss a more serious issue which is rat infestation as that is something that will cause harm to your car the most. What damage rats can do to your car? Rats thrive in areas that are dark and warm, thus your car engine becomes the idle place for them. Most commonly rats form a nest and stay in the engine. In the process, they choke up your engine and also damage it by chewing up wires- something that can be costly. Rats enjoy chewing the insulation on the wires which can lead to troubles in the car's electrical system. Another major threat is that rats can use the car as their storage for food which means scattered food all over the engine including the damage of the car interior with food, droppings etc making it an unhygienic place. How to get rid of rats A few signs hinting at the presence of rats in the car will include noises coming from probably an engine check light on due to rats chewing wires or rat droppings in the interior or engine. To get rid of it, immediately park the car in a better lit place and open the bonnet. Also place mouse traps near the car plus also try a repellant, clean the car/engine bay immediately or best call pest control. How to avoid this situation First thing would be to change your parking spot as you might be parking over sewer lids or near trash cans or in an unkempt garden etc. Change and park it on a spot which is less likely to have rats nearby plus also in lit areas. Also change your parking spots every few days. Also try to keep your car as clean as possible by keeping no food bits in the car and also cleaning your car. In lockdown also try to start your car engine every few days and do not keep it lying unused for days at end. Also check engine entrances regularly. In short do not leave your car unattended for days at end.
