Coronavirus HIGHLIGHTS: Delhi Logs 134 New Infections In Last 24 Hrs, Mumbai Adds 570 Fresh Cases

Coronavirus HIGHLIGHTS Updates, Tuesday, June 22, 2021: The daily Covid count in India continues to be below 1 lakh for the past five days. Noticing slight improvement in the Covid situation, several states have relaxed lockdown restrictions and moved towards unlocking several activities in controlled manner. Meanwhile, three states - Maharashtra, Kerala and Madhya Pradesh - are reporting cases of the delta plus variant in the country. State health minister Rajesh Tope said that the state has reported 21 cases of the Delta plus variant. Kerala government officials also informed that presence of the Delta plus variant has been found in samples collected from Palakkad and Pathanamth districts.

Coronavirus HIGHLIGHTS, Tuesday, June 22, 2021: The daily Covid count in India continues to be below 1 lakh for the past five days. Noticing slight improvement in the Covid situation, several states have relaxed lockdown restrictions and moved towards unlocking several activities in controlled manner. The country on the first day of implementation of ‘Revised Guidelines for Covid Vaccination’ administered a record 80 lakh doses of Covid vaccines. In another major development, Bharat Biotech has submitted Phase 3 clinical trials data of COVAXIN  to Drugs Controller General of India.

Meanwhile, three states - Maharashtra, Kerala and Madhya Pradesh - are reporting cases of the delta plus variant in the country. State health minister Rajesh Tope said that the state has reported 21 cases of the Delta plus variant. Kerala government officials also informed that presence of the Delta plus variant has been found in samples collected from Palakkad and Pathanamth districts.

22 Cases Of Delta Plus Mutant Found In Maharashtra, MP, Kerala: Govt

Twenty-two cases of the Delta plus variant of the coronavirus have been detected in India, with 16 of them being reported from Maharashtra and the remaining from Madhya Pradesh and Kerala, the government said on Tuesday.

India is among the nine countries where the Delta plus mutation has been found so far, Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan said at a press briefing, underlining that it is currently a "variant of interest" and has not yet been classified as a "variant of concern".

Delhi Logs 134 New Infections In Last 24 Hrs, Mumbai Adds 570 Fresh Cases

The national capital recorded 134 more COVID-19 cases with a positivity rate of 0.20 percent, while eight more people succumbed to the infection, according to data shared by the city's health department here on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Mumbai reported 570 new coronavirus infections and 10 fatalities on Tuesday, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said. With this, the tally of cases rose to 7,22,461 and death toll increased to 15,315.

Delta Plus Variant Found In 10 Countries, 22 Cases India So Far: Govt

Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan said on Tuesday that the Delta Plus variant of COVID-19 has been found in 10 countries including India. During a press conference, the health secretary said that over 22 cases of Delta Plus have been found in India besides the regular Delta variant.
